Ice to tree ratio

Pictures of the ice storm

These pictures do not tell the real story, you cannot see the real devastation of the trees here. I believe everyone in Sprinfield has power, but some of the outlying towns still do not. These are just a few pictures I took on the way to work. All ice is gone now.

Bartley Inn is CLOSED

Well, that title doesn't sound right! If someone needs to come over and spend the night, they sure can. But, as of this morning, all our "guests" have power!! Clint moved out last night, and Heather (my secretary) is moving out today. She got power late last night.

So, I can now say the JANUARY 2007 ICE STORM is over. I say January, because if you read the Farmer's Almanac, it says we have another storm coming in February. It predicted this storm and the December storm....hmmmmmm!

ICE STORM 2007

WOW! What a mess our beautiful city is in! I only wonder what spring will look like, with all these damaged trees. Still, so many people displaced.... I feel funny to say, we never lost power. I am very thankful, and we certainly housed, are still housing, displaced folks.
CB and Clint moved Clint into his new apartment Friday night of the storm. I worked late, and we went over and I helped set up his kitchen. We decided to go buy groceries to stock his kitchen, and as we returned, his apartment went out. He found it fun staying THAT night. As I got up Saturday morning, I heard voices, and Karen and her dog, Rosie were here, as they too were out of power. Clint and his girlfriend, and their two dogs arrived later that day. We have had folks over during the day while we worked to shower and get warm. Karen and Clint's girlfriend have moved out, and now a coworker and her dog have moved in. Also the neighbor across the street is still out of power, but she came home last night with her little girl, so we have extension cords running to her house for a space heater and the TV. We have truly been blessed, so we are trying to be a blessing.
I have pictures and I will post when I can.

New Year's Eve 2006

So, here we are, all in our PJs. Everyone spent the night too. We ate steaks and played games. Went to bed around 230am, and back up at 7:45. We had a big breakfast. We had so much fun. Except for one incident......I told Dana and Mick that together, they both talk non stop (now, that is a true statement). Anyway, for an hour they did not speak (although they definitely communicated). We enjoyed the silence for about 10 minutes. It DID get boring, so we had to beg them to talk again.

CLINT IS A DAD!!!!

I bet I got your attention! Well, here he is! His name is Franklin and he has a cute personality for sure. Clint keeps him bathed (or I won't hold him), and he does pretty good about #1, #2 AND #3, although he has done all 3 at my house. He is alot of fun. CB even gets on the floor and plays with him. But he loves his dad. Clint cannot go anywhere in the house without Franklin running behind him. It is so cute.

Sad that HOLIDAYS are over....

But, we had a wonderful holiday season....From the weekend before Christmas to New Year's day, we had so much fun with family and friends. I will post pictures later. We were with the grandkids the weekend before Christmas. Went to the wonderful Christmas Eve Service (my favorite of the year) then to Dr. McMurry's home for dinner and fellowship. I worked in the ER Christmas Day, and had Karen, Channing and Deanna over for dinner and cards Christmas night. Went to the Comstocks Friday night, and we had our Annual pajama party New Year's Eve, and everyone spent the night. We went to bed at 2:30, and up by 8:00 to cook a big breakfast! Then......we took down the decorations.

So....all is down and packed away for next year (BIG SIGH of happiness from CB, sadness from me)!

Just waiting on the BIG SNOW STORM! (I know, I know, I haven't heard of one coming...just wishing)
